MULYP is celebrating black teachers in Memphis for National Teacher Appreciation Week 2018!

About the event
Based on the US Department of Education's State of Racial Diversity in the Educator Workforce (2016), 82% of the profession identify as white (only 2% are black men). May 6-12, 2018 marks National Teacher Appreciation Week, and the Memphis Urban League Young Professionals wants to spotlight our black elementary school teachers in Memphis.
We have partnered with Memphis Native Pam Brown author of "I am a Natural Cutie" for our #BlackTeachersMatter Social Media Contest.
Any black elementary school teacher in SCS, Charter or ASD are eligible.
Here are the rules:
- Post your favorite education/classroom related pic on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter and answer the following question: Why is it important to have culturally relevant literature in the classroom?
- Tag us in your post: @Mem_ulyp
- The teacher with the most likes (combined on all 3 social media outlets) at 8am 5/12/18 wins!
