About the event
Memphis Urban League Young Professionals (MULYP) will partner with Memphis Urban League, The US Census Bureau, and UT Students National Pharmaceutical Association to host a Voter Registration/Census Caravan and Neighborhood Clean Up event. This will feature a caravan through one of the lowest Census count areas of Memphis (Frayser community) where drivers will decorate their cars and with the support of other community partners encourage residents to Complete the Census and Register to Vote. This caravan will culminate into a Neighborhood Clean Up therein the Frayser Community.
With the September 30th deadline quickly approaching for residents to
complete the 2020 Census, Memphis Urban League Young Professionals and
community partners recognize the importance of bringing awareness to and
encouraging residents to complete the Census, especially those in underserved
communities. We also recognize the importance of Service, as it is one of the
primary pillars of Urban League. “We hope that by providing this service to the
community and hosting this caravan, it will encourage our community
members to want more and demand better for the community in which they
live. It is our hope they will recognize the importance of completing the census
to receive federal funding for schools, roads and many other community needs
and also recognize the importance of registering to vote and actually
participate in the Fall election,” says MULYP President Ashlee Hafford.
