MULYP Criminal Justice Civic Forum

On July 27, 2023, the Department of Justice (DOJ) opened the civil pattern or practice investigation into the Memphis Police Department (MPD) and the City of Memphis. They’re investigating whether MPD uses excessive force to conduct unlawful stops, searches, and arrests and engage in discriminatory policing based on race. As part of their investigation, the DOJ wants to hear about the experiences of the Memphis Police Department from the community. 

The Memphis Urban League Young Professionals (MULYP) will host a special session where members can share their experiences and give feedback in response to the investigation.
