About the event
Saturday September 19th Memphis Urban League Young Professionals, partnering with Memphis Urban League and The US Census Bureau will lead a Caravan through the South Memphis Community that will culminate into a Drive-Thru Voter Registration/Census Drive & Community Clean Up at L.E. Park. This event is to spread awareness in one of the lowest census count communities here in Shelby County.
Participants will line up at 12pm at L.E. Park (intersection of E Georgia Ave and S Orleans St, across from Paradise Entertainment Center) to participate in a caravan, led by MPD and MFD through the South Memphis Community. Volunteers will help direct those participating to their spot in the caravan line and provide materials to decorate cars with Voter/Census Awareness posters.
At the end of the caravan, participants and community members will have an opportunity to complete the census, register to vote, check voter registration status and participate in a community-wide clean up. PPE will be provided and COVID-19 precautionary guidelines enforced throughout the event.
